Hello, future Gophers! Winter is upon us here in Minnesota. The snow has fallen and our landscape is now a picturesque winter wonderland. As much as I love the seasons of Minnesota, winter is usually the time of year I begin to daydream of destinations faraway. Lucky for me (and you!), the University of Minnesota is home to the nation's largest study abroad program. Our Learning Abroad Center supports the collective wanderlust of our students. Check out their website to learn more about the 300+ programs and 60 countries you can visit as a University of Minnesota student.
As an undergraduate student at the U of M, I studied abroad in London, England. London may not have provided me with much of a climate shift, but as an English major, it was the perfect place to study--I learned Shakespeare in the country where he wrote and lived. I spent my days reading his great works and my nights attending perfomances at historic sites like the Globe Theater or the Open Air Theater in Regents Park. My words of advice for study abroad are simple and concise: GO! It's hard to pinpoint another chapter of your life when you will get an extended length of time off to travel, live, and study in the location of your choice.
Check out the amazing trips and experiences of a few of our current students in the videos below. Join them in their journeys and begin to plan your own!
